Helen E. Like of Parchment, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Helen was the daughter of George and Daisy (Duncan) Kreling. 

Helen and Richard M. Like were married in 1954. He preceded her in death in May of 2017. Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.  

Helen is survived by her son, Jeffry D. (Margaret Wofford) Like; her grandchildren: Adam J. Like, Jeffry J. Like, Elizabeth L. Like, Sheila Like, and Jessica Cummins Like; and two great-grandsons, Preston A. Marner-Like and Talan K. Like. 

Helen attended Kalamazoo Central High School. She worked as a Seamstress for many years and then for over thirty-two years for the State of Michigan, first at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital and then transferred to the Department of Social Services. During her retirement, she worked security at Kalamazoo Airport and later with Allied Barton Security for many years. 

Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo and, at one time, served as a deacon. She was also a member of the Mar O Not Sunday School Class and a past member of the Past State and Past National Officer of the United Commercial Travelers of America. 

Her Masonic Affiliations include membership in the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Eastern Star, and the organist position she held for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile. In years past, she has served on a wide variety of committees in the Kalamazoo area, including youth groups and youth camps, and as a committee member on the player with Kalamazoo’s church teams. 

At Helen’s request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
