Gregory William Ferris, 65, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Greg was born in Chula Vista, CA, on September 30th, 1958, to William Earl Ferris and Carolyn Kay Ferris.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the love of his life, Dawn (Cook) Ferris. Greg was a very loved and devoted husband and father to his children Rebekah (Kurt) Leininger of Vicksburg, MI, Stephen (Brianna) Ferris of Boise, ID, Daniel (Emily) Ferris of Kalamazoo, MI. Grandchildren, Emma, Isaiah, Coen, Bella, Summer, and Uriah. He was known as “Papa” by his beloved grandchildren. Mother, Carolyn Kay Brazie. His surviving siblings include Gavin (Jacqueline) Ferris, Shari (Drew) Gaddy, and Nathan (Renee) Brazie.

Greg was a talented artist. While in high school, he placed second in the State of Michigan in a local magazine for one of his paintings. After high school, Greg attended Western Michigan University, where he studied Fine Arts. After college, he began pursuing design engineering, ultimately leading to his own construction business. He loved woodworking and enjoyed making furniture pieces for his family.

Greg had a passion for the outdoors and had a love for fishing. His other hobbies included bird watching, walking in the woods, playing guitar, and boat building. In his early years, he had a Tennessee Walker horse named Mac, which he showed and placed as the Grand Champion at the Barry County State Fair.

His biggest passion in life was his love for his family. He was always available to lend a helping hand when needed. He was not a man of many words, but his words brought comfort and peace when he spoke.

Greg loved the Lord. He made his decision to follow Christ as a young man. He lived his life to honor God through his acts of service towards his family, friends, and church. He was a member of Valley Family Church for 32 years, during which time he served in various roles.

Being a man of integrity, Greg possessed a relentless work ethic to complete every task that was set before him. This work ethic led to 26 years of a successful construction business.

Greg also enjoyed vacations to Northern Michigan and Idaho, creating cherished family memories.

His father, William Earl Ferris, preceded him in death, and his grandparents, Lyle and Berniece Johnson and Earl and Kathern Ferris.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley,[a]I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord
