Genevieve Dorothy (Jennings) Parker

Genevieve Dorothy (Jennings) Parker, age 95, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on February 27, 2024, at Story Point of Kalamazoo with family at her side. 

Genevieve was born on October 5, 1928, in Allegan County to the late John and Doris (Andresen) Jennings of Fennville. 

After high school, she continued her education at Western Michigan University, where she received her bachelor's degree and master's degree in education. She taught for 40 years in the Kalamazoo Public School system. She was a member of the Parchment United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and square dancing. Genevieve was also a Parchment Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority member. 

Genevieve is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harry W. Parker. She is also survived by three children: Debra (Michael) Momany, Diane (Matthew) Ostrowski, and James (Patricia) Parker; four grandchildren: Zachary (Ashley) Ostrowski, Mia Parker, Lindsey Hill, Jenny Gress; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Richard) Hutchins.  

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Vivian (Michael) O’Donnell. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9^th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Pastor Kathleen Robertson King officiating. Friends may gather from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
