Gayle L Smelker Currier

SMELKER, Gayle L. Currier Scotts Ms. Smelker passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, November 8, 2006 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born August 28, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Asa and Elvena Lough Currier. Gayle was employed by the family business, Country Acres, for 15 years, and then worked together with her lifelong companion and partner, Jim Martin, in his businesses until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting with friends at Viking Sewing Center, camping with Jim and friends, and making new friends at the Kalamazoo Kennel Club. Her family was especially important to her. Surviving are her companion, Jim Martin; her children, Scott Smelker of Trevor, WI, and Pam Greg Brewington of Vicksburg; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan Smelker, and Cody, Travis, and Garrett Brewington; 2 sisters, Marilyn Art Kreg of Delton, and Janet Carl Langerveld of Kalamazoo; 1 brother, Dan Kay Currier of Delton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Smelker will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Martin Culver officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Gayle was an awesome lady and will be missed by all.
