Frederick William Corryn II

January 5, 1959 — November 19, 2022

Portage

Frederick Wm. Corryn II died Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Bronson Hospital with family at this side. He was born January 5, 1959, in Kalamazoo, MI the son of the late Joseph and Joan (Stevens) Corryn. When Fred was born, he was folded up like a shirt making a mark in the family here in the USA and England, or across the pond as we referred to it many times.

Fred attended Kalamazoo Public Schools remembering them as good times and good friends. Thanks to social media he was still in contact with classmates from Brucker Elementary all the way up to Loy Norrix High School, class of 1977.

Fred worked many jobs throughout his life, but the one that remained the most important to him was the Veterans Administration, where he voiced "if you served you deserve". He worked many years, 1979 to 2017, and hours then retired from the US Department of Veterans Affairs in Lakeland, FL but still stayed involved with the outreach programs the VA had to offer. Walgreens in Florida came in close second working this parttime job from 1990 to 2019. Fred was truly a people person, enjoyed helping them in any way possible.

Fred followed the catholic religion when growing up in Kalamazoo, calling St. Joseph Catholic Church home. But once he moved to Florida he called St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Plant City, Florida his home church. Fred was rooted in God's love which was shown in his actions.

Fred was not a stranger long with anyone, he would find conversation to engage in and if it was a historical item, look out. He would never say anything bad about anyone, nor would he turn anyone away. He treated everyone well and counted you as friend or family in true Fred fashion.

Frederick is survived by his children, Frederick “Erick” W. (Justin) Corryn, III of Florida and Elisabeth Corryn of Texas; sisters, Priscilla Dibble, and Patricia Corryn both of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place and private services may be held later. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift in Fred's memory to charity of your choice.
