Fred L. Junker

Fred L. Junker passed away October 10, 2023 from a struggle with Dementia and Lewey bodies illness.  Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. and Patricia Junker.  Fred was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School class of 1960.  He went on to graduate with honors from Western Michigan University with a BBA in Accountancy.  He was a member of Western Michigan University Honorary Accounting Society.  Fred became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked for Ernest and Whinny for several years.  Later he became a Realtor.  He enjoyed real estate, land development and commercial real estate and worked for many years in truck terminal real estate around the country.  Fred was ambitious.  He enjoyed water skiing, running, football, watching his niece and nephew play sports, and auto racing with his son.  Fred is survived by his son F. Michael Jay (Mars Barlow) of Sarasota, Florida; Grandson, Jeffrey M. Jay of Sarasota, Florida; Great-Grandson Jackson VanNorman of Sarasota, Florida; sister, Pamela A. (Thomas) Monroe of Portage, Michigan; and ex-wife, Joyce Bree of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and loved his many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank friend, Fred Miller and neighbors, John and Ruth Hoogenboom; and nephew, Brooks Monroe for their dedicated support, and the staff at Park Village Pines and Crystal Woods, and the exceptional care of Transitions Hospice staff.  Contributions may be made to Park Village Pines or Transitions Hospice of Kalamazoo.  A service will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 on Thursday October 19.  Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with the service following at 1:00pm.
