Frances E. (Padget) Weststrate

Frances E. Weststrate, age 92 of Kalamazoo, died at Provisions on April 29, 2023. She was born on March 30, 1931, in Watervliet, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche (Betz) Padget. She was a 1949 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Growing up, Frances met a neighbor boy named Adrian Weststrate. They began dating and exchanged letters while he was deployed in the service. When he returned, they were married on March 26, 1954. Frances and Adrian raised their two boys and enjoyed family life. She liked to go to garage sales and antique shops. Adrian and Frances wintered in Texas and mushroom hunted in Michigan in the early spring. She did her circle words while he watched baseball. Sadly, he preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by her sons: Ted Weststrate and Terry (Deborah) Weststrate; her grandchildren: Ben Weststrate, Chris Weststrate, Alex Weststrate, Taylor Weststrate, Dustin (Elaine) Sharp, and Dezirae (Jim) Boer; her 4 great-grandchildren; her sister Elsie Hendricksen; her sister-in-law Joy Padget; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Adrian, her sisters: Betty Wyman and Sara Swander, and her brother Charles Padget.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo. A graveside service will be held following at 11:30 AM at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. Donations in memory of Frances may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
