Kalamazoo

Etta Mae (Gay) Jorgensen, age 97, passed away on December 9, 2023, at North Woods Village in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Etta was born on March 13, 1926, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to the late Pleasant Henery and Mary Celeste (Ogle) Gay.

She met and married the love of her life, Jack Jorgensen, after his return home from the Navy. They were married for nearly 69 years.

They moved their family to Flagstaff, Arizona, then in 1961 to Cottonwood, Arizona, where they owned and operated an egg ranch.

After their kids grew up and moved away, they transferred to Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They started traveling in their 5th wheel trailer, spending the winters in Texas and summers in Michigan. They finally bought a house on the Gulf in Rockport, Texas. In 2007, they moved to Queen Creek, Arizona, where they lived until coming to Michigan in April 2019.

They spent some time in the 80s traveling in Europe from Germany to Scandinavia to Spain, Italy, and several countries in between. In Norway, they visited several newly discovered 1st cousins.

Her children survive Etta: Eric (Dorothy) Jorgensen and Dianna (Meryl) Davis; four grandchildren, Erica Jorgensen, Leif Jorgensen, Eddie (Lindsey) Lucke, and Brian Lucke; and one great-grandson: Hunter Jorgensen.

Etta was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
