Passed away Friday evening, February 23, 2024 at Kairos Dwelling. Ellen was born March 29, 1938 in Richland, MI the daughter of Wright and Zelda (Forsyth) Wiley. She was an excellent wooden toy maker. She enjoyed going to art shows, visiting with people, and was a people person. Ellen also enjoyed making jams, and canning fruit for later in the year. She was an avid sewer and made mittens for the children at Otsego Elementary School and special needs toys. Ellen loved doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and being outdoors. Most of all, she loved her children and spending time with her family. 

On May 18, 1957 Ellen was united in marriage to her loving husband, Ronald Chapman, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael, and siblings, Sue, Gordon, Art, Glenn, and Donny. Ellen is survived by her children, Karen (Ken) Reiter, Ronnie (Annie) Chapman, David Chapman; grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Joerin, Courtney (Zach) Mehl; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Coralee Joerin; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday, February 29 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Alamo Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kairos Dwelling.
