Elisa Annette (Buie) Calhoun

Elisa Annette Calhoun, age 61, of Kalamazoo, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital.

Elisa was born in Scott, Mississippi, on February 11, 1961, the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Jackson) Buie. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. She was a great cook and enjoyed making meals for her husband. She was united in marriage with Kenneth Monie Calhoun on August 8, 2014. She and Kenneth attended Valley Family Church.

Elisa is survived by her children, Jennifer Gant of Kalamazoo and Rolland Gant of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Jakiya Washington, Shylo Gant, Dariana Hall, Eian Jarell Gant, Nyiema Gant, Elijah Michael Gant, Emreh Michael Gant; stepchildren, Casey Calhoun and Carrie Calhoun; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Dorothy Buie.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S 9 ^th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Zack Spangler will officiate the service.
