Edward C. Ritsema

RITSEMA, Edward C. Kalamazoo Peacefully went home to be with his Lord, Saturday afternoon, November 4, 2006. Ed was born October 21, 1916 to Claus and Marie Post Ritsema. He was a veteran of WW II and worked for the Upjohn Company for 31 years, receiving the Upjohn Award in 1970. Ed enjoyed 30 years of retirement and celebrated his and Evelyn?s 65th wedding anniversary in March of this year. He was a member of Greenwood Reformed Church, where he served in consistory and many other capacities. Family, gardening and sports were enjoyed in his life. Ed was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Van Nus, who survives. Also surviving are their 4 children, Paul Ritsema, Karen Guy Webster, Ron Shelia Ritsema and Mary Tim Molnar; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, David Ritsema; a sister, Louise Ritsema; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Ritsema. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Greenwood Reformed Church, 1815 Winton Ave. with Rev. Jonathan Loper officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to Greenwood Reformed Church, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the charity of one?s choice.
