WARNER, Dr. Donald T. PhD Kalamazoo Died November 29, 2006 at his residence. Donald was born April 7, 1918 in Holland, MI, the son of Tyde and Mary Westing Warner and had lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1952. He graduated with a B.S. Degree from Hope College in Holland and received his Doctorate from the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL. He was employed as a Bio-Chemist with General Mills for 10 years and for 30 years with the Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo until his retirement in 1984. Dr. Warner was very involved in research chemistry. He did a Sabbatical at the City of Hope Research Center in Duarte, CA in 1965 and spoke at a major conference in Meersburg, Germany in 1964. He received the ?Bond Award? for the best research paper which was awarded by the American Oil Chemists Association. Don was married to the former Ruth Vickland in 1945, who preceded him in death in December of 2004. He was also preceded by his parents and a sister Marian VanOostenburg. Surviving are a daughter Nancy Taylor of Sturgis, a son Robert Warner of New Mexico; 5 grandchildren, Brian Angie Warner, Stephanie Adam Rothmeyer, Laura Eric Peterson, Susan Taylor and David Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren, Devon, Shane and Hunter; 2 sisters, Betty Waggener of Nebraska and Ruth Herm Broene of Grand Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Private committal services were held in Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 17th at the Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Dr. with the Rev. Don DeYoung officiating. Memorial contributions in Dr. Warner?s memory may be made to the Second Reformed Church.
