Passed away Friday, March 1, 2024. Douglas was born on September 5, 1953, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late, Harlan and Edna (Nicholson) Marr. After graduating from high school, Douglas entered the workforce and eventually ended up working on electric motors for DMS Electric Apparatus. He lived in Paw Paw, Michigan during this time where he raised a family. Doug was a dedicated family man and loved his dogs, Sammy and Samantha.. He had a love of country music and was a tried-and-true fan of the University of Michigan and the Chicago Bears. Friends and family are encouraged to wear U of M, or Chicago Bears gear or colors to his services.
Surviving Douglas is his daughter, Lisa (Jason) Ervin; granddaughter, Ella Radke; sisters, Beverly Reist, Nancy Thompson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in passing by his parents; son, Douglas Marr, II; siblings, Bonnie Love, Sharon Austin, Harlene Randolph, Alana Wright, and Harlan Marr, Jr.
Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 3pm to 6pm, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49009. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11am, at the same location. Immediately following the funeral, a graveside service will take place at Genessee Prairie Cemetery and a luncheon at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1332 Branch St, Kalamazoo.
