Douglas Wayne Dingman, age 75 of Kalamazoo, died on November 9, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1949, in Kalamazoo, the son of Ralph and Arlene (Rowe) Dingman. Doug was a 1968 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, Doug returned to Kalamazoo and worked in the paper mill industry, construction trades and then as a custodian at Parchment Public Schools before retiring in 2000. In 2018, Doug lost his beloved wife of 28 years. Their nearly three decades together had been filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Doug was a man of many passions and had an artistic gift that was reflected in his woodworking, wood carving and painting. He enjoyed tackling projects for friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Doug spent many hours in the woods hunting with his family and took great pride in teaching his sons and grandsons how to hunt and fish. Doug was a dedicated father and spent time as a volunteer Boy Scout leader and soccer coach. He was most proud of his title as “Papa” or “Big Grandpa” to his many grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.

His family includes his children: Timothy Dingman, William (Dawn) Dingman, Meghan (Scott) Haas, Douglas (Samantha) Dingman, Heather (Stephanie) Boehm, Candie (Joseph) Boehm and Dustin Boehm; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his sister Rebecca Fillmore (Todd Horst) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Becki Dingman, his parents, his sister Christine, and his brothers Phil, Mark, and Chuck.
