David Elmer Doty

David Elmer Doty, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on December 25, 2023 at the age of 63. He was born September 30, 1960 to Earl and Nyla (Worden) Doty. David married Penny Richardson on June 11, 2011, who survives.

David loved his family—he loved especially loved playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and playing games on the computer. He was a very smart man—very intelligent—and helped his wife out a lot. He was loved by so many people. He loved watching sports with his good friend, Carl—football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. The Lions, The Wolverines, and The Tigers were his favorites.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Karen; and a beloved dog, Maggie.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Brandy Hall-Williams of Kalamazoo, Heather (Paul) Compton of Lawton, and Dustin Doty of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lucus, Arica, Sophia, Amia, Rowan, Renesmae, Paul Jr., Madisynn, Niyah, and Layla; step-children, Shelly (Jason) Brown of South Carolina, James (Casey) Brown of Kalamazoo, and Robert (Brittni) Rice of Kalamazoo; step-grandchildren, Courtney (Miles) Wallace, Samantha Morris, Bethannie Doniaz, Ryder Rice, James Rice, Gaige Harrison, and Axel Rice; great-grandchildren, Kylomi Hall-Johnson, Triston Wallace, Lucius Morris, and Atticus Morris; two brothers, Dan (Colleen) Doty and Stephen Doty; and a sister, Kathy (Dale) Spencer.

Memorial contributions may be made to any cancer center.

A celebration of life will be held in June 2024. It will be posted on Facebook in May 2024.
