Clara J. Watson

Clara June Watson (Erb), 61 of Mattawan, passed away at home on August 21, 2023. She was born in Allegan to the late Robert Erb and Barbara Vining.

Moving to Kalamazoo at a young age where she grew up and married her childhood sweetheart John Martin, they had one son together. Later in life Clare was married to Mark Watson until his passing in 2021. Mark and Clare shared a wonderful life together for 20+ years.

The three most important things in her life included her family, love of music, and her dogs. She enjoyed being outside feeding the birds and critters and watching the deer. She enjoyed the lake, hunting, and going to every concert she could manage to attend. She enjoyed spending time with her brother Paul and her friends. She enjoyed keeping tabs on the grandchildren and watching them grow. She was proud of everything they had accomplished. The friends that knew her would tell you she was a kind soul, sweet and loving. She lived life the way she wanted, she was a free spirit and will be greatly missed.

Clara is survived by her only son Robert Martin; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca Martin, Giovanni Martin, Cora Martin, Pasquale Martin, and Tatum Martin; and 3 siblings, Paul Erb, Randy Erb and Jay Erb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Watson; her mother, Barbara Vining; and her father, Robert Erb.

A memorial for Clara will be held on September 16, 2023 at her brother Paul’s home at 3:00 pm, friends are invited to wear their favorite band shirt in honor of Clara's love for live music.
