Charles "Chuck" L. Dingman

Charles Leonard Dingman, “Chuck”, died Sunday evening, March 19, 2023, at his home. He was born January 15, 1944, in Portage, MI son of Charles M. and Betty L. (Hopkins) Dingman and had been a lifelong area resident.

Chuck grew up in the Portage area and graduated high school there. He was drafted into the army, where he spent a few years in Germany. After leaving the army, he came home to meet his wife of 54 years, and raise 4 children.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing, and hunting. Fishing with his wife was one of his favorite pass times. He loved to cook out on the grill, and no one was turned away when it came to supper. He is most famous for his burnt chicken.

Chuck loved to spend time at his property in Baldwin, Michigan “up north”. Long weekends with his wife and loved ones. He will be missed as a husband, father, and friend.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas R. Dingman; and a sister, Carolyn Seiting. On June 7, 1969, Chuck married the former Crystal K. Neel who survives. Also surviving are his children, Charles L. Dingman, Jr., Rick A. Dingman, Jason S. Dingman, and Renae M. (Philip) Lard; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Terry W. Dingman; sister Barbara L. VanSweeden; and several nieces and nephews.
