Catherine Maxine (Lovell) Drew

Catherine Maxine (Lovell) Drew of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 65.

Cathy was born in Buckeye, Arizona on February 24, 1958, to the late Paul and Willie Rae (Fulbright) Lovell. Cathy married Michael Drew on November 6, 1992. Cathy and Mike were married nearly 31 years.

Cathy worked a variety of jobs throughout the years. As a Nutrition Instructor with MSU Extension, Cathy spent 20 years building relationships and positively impacting lives throughout Kalamazoo County. Cathy was a MeMaw to many. She loved her work and was saddened to retire early due to declining health.

Cathy was a caring, fun-loving woman that quickly made friends anywhere she went. As a young woman, Cathy enjoyed going out dancing, listening to some, “Old Time Rock N Roll,” and swooning over her love, Elvis Presley. She was ecstatic to visit Graceland. Cathy loved reading murder and true crime novels as well as going out to eat with Mike.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Martha (Shawn) Wilson; son, Jesse (Sarah Hawkes) Lang; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Cathy is also survived by sisters, Edna (Rick) Barlow of Plainwell, MI; Mary (John) Ozga of Marion, IL; and Paula Rhodes of Idaho.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Willie Rae Lovell; sisters, Joanne Lovely and Pat Rickwa; and nephew, Lawrence Barlow.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Royal Estates Community Center, 8300 Ravine Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49004 on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
