Passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 12, 2023, at her home. Carol was born March 27, 1939, in Muskegon, MI the daughter of Charles and Lena (Wade) Stong.
Carol loved her Heavenly Father, family, and church. She became a follower of Jesus at a young age and through Youth for Christ met her wavy-haired hunk, Jim. She would always talk about the girls chasing Jim, but she was the one that caught him.
Carol loved mentoring young ladies and led many groups such as Apples of Gold, ladies Bible studies and singing in the church choir. Carol retired as a secretary from Climax-Scotts High School and taught piano from her home for many years. Family was forefront in everything she did, and loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carol wanted to be remembered by this quote, "I would like to be remembered as a woman who feared God, and my greatest desire was to serve Him, my husband, and my children. I am very blessed.” (Philippians 3:10-11)
On August 7, 1959 Carol was united in marriage to her loving husband of 64 years, James Black, who survives. She is also survived by her children, Timothy (Leslie) Black, Lori Boomershine, Charles (Beverly) Black; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, brothers, Paul Stong, Roger (Roberta) Stong; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Bob Boomershine.
