Passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, August 19, 2023 and is now with his Lord and Savior, and reunited with his beloved wife. Brad was born April 4, 1934 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Carl and Allane (Bradford) Stonerock. Brad’s mother passed away when he was 12 years old. As a child, Brad would ride his bike to go pick strawberries to make some money. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1952 and liked to play basketball and other sports. He was a four year veteran of the U.S Air Force and served in Korea and Okinawa. While in the service he met his wife Frances in Colorado, where they were married on August 20, 1953. They moved to a small farm in Kalamazoo where they raised their 3 children. Brad was a charter and active member of the Haven Reformed Church and was on the building committee of the new Haven Church. He spent time in Ethiopia on a mission trip and in retirement he and his wife continued their mission work with “Mapps” across the country. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially his trips to Canada, moose hunting. He enjoyed doing outside work, yearly camping trips with the family, weekly card games with friends, trips to the county fairs, and playing cribbage. Later in life he was able to go on the Talon’s Out Flight to Washington D.C. Brad was preceded in death by his wife Frances (Smith) on March 8, 2022; a brother, Bruce; and sister, Laura VanTilburg. He is survived by his children, Doug (Anna Maria) Stonerock, Jan Honeysett, Marian (Eric) Schipper; grandchildren, Ryan Stonerock, Austin (Jenna) Schipper, Andy Schipper, Jessica (Cindy) Bachhuber; great-grandchildren, Greta, Lainey, and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday, September 7 at Haven Church, 5350 North Sprinkle Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49004 where a memorial service will follow at 11:00am.
