Bonnie Lewis (born June 19, 1944, to Bruce and Priscilla Swain, and widow of Dr. Robert Lewis) passed on September 3, 2024. She is survived by children Matthew (spouse Molly) and Melissa Buist, and grandsons Colin and Gage Buist, respectively. Bonnie attended the University of Michigan and Western Michigan University where she graduated in 1966, to then briefly teach English, become a mother, and manage a neurosurgery office. A woman of Talbot’s style and democratic views, her passions included gardening, golfing, doing puzzles, playing bridge, and having a glass of wine (or two) in the company of her cats and or friends. Her piano playing ranged from Haydn to ragtime and her unending support of the arts led to volunteering as an usher at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre and the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. She will be missed by her neighbors, her friends made over the many years as a member of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, and her sorority sisters from U of M, whom she travelled and connected with until the end. Her petiteness aside, Bonnie left a lot to remember. Donations in her memory can be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society, Loaves & Fishes, the KCT, the KSO, or the FCC.
