Beverley Joyce Jevert

February 15, 1932 — January 1, 0001

JEVERT, Beverley Joyce Beverley was born near South Haven, MI on February 15, 1932 to Roy G. and Rose Morse Black. After graduating from South Haven High School in 1949, she attended Allegan County Normal and then taught at Ganges Union School for five years. After earning BS and MA degrees from Western Michigan University, she taught sixth grade at Paw Paw Cedar Street school, and lower elementary for 17 years at Portage Central Elementary before retiring. While at Western, she met Joseph Art Jevert. They were married December 22, 1957 and he preceded her to heaven on June 5, 2003. Beverley was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Stanley. Beverley was deeply committed to her family. Surviving are her three children, Mark Debra Jevert, Carol Eric Kihm andTom Shelly Jevert and five grandchildren, Sarah, susan and Stephanie Jevert and Katherine and Mitchell Kihm. Also surviving is a brother, Bruce Barbara Black; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Weber, and nieces and nephews. She cherished her friends, her church, and her educational friends and associates, and relished the accomplishments of the hundreds of students she had over the years. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Tuesday at Langeland Funeral Home, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A celebration of Beverley's life will take place Wednesday at 11 AM at Pathfinder Church, 8740 South Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI 49024. Memorial contributions in Bev's name may be made to the WMU Gary Fund or to the charity of your choice.
