Barbara Kay Phillips passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born November 29, 1942, in Northampton, MA daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Kurtz) Bergmann.
She graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Secretarial Science. In 1963 she married Robert Bos, residing in Plainwell Michigan. Barbara loved gardening, studied oil painting, did pen and ink drawings which she sold on the Arts and Crafts circuit for about 7 years. She also wrote poetry and took up canning. In 1977, she fell in love with metal detecting.
After her divorce, Barbara moved to Florida in 1985 taking a job at Kellyco. Barbara served as the tour guide, taking groups of treasure hunters to the various Caribbean Islands.
In 1990, she married Jack Phillips, and they continued their metal detecting journey for years. They settled in Arab, Alabama in 1995 where Barbara enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Preceding her in death, Jack Phillips passed away on July 10, 2021. Barbara then moved back to Michigan to be closer to her children.
Barbara is survived by her children, Robin (William) McNair and Brian (Kim) Bos; stepdaughter, Melanie Jackson; grandchildren, Cortney Bos, Hunter Bos, Nathan, Madison, and Nicholas McNair. Barbara also has two surviving brothers Frank and Donald Bergmann
