Amarjeet Singh Mann

Portage, Michigan

Amarjeet “Billy” Singh Mann, age 59 of Portage, died on March 7, 2024. He was born on June 15, 1964, in Punjab, India, the 5th child of Giani Mann Singh and Vidya Kaur.


Amarjeet left India when he was 18. He first traveled and worked across Europe then ultimately lived and worked in New York City for 30 years, before moving to Portage, Michigan. He owned and operated the Long Lake Liquor and Market alongside his family.

 

He leaves behind his wife, the love of his life for 40 years, Cathleen Mann; his children: Ashia Singh Montalvo, Vidya Singh Mann, and Armon Singh Mann; his grandson, Xavier Montalvo; his brothers and sister: Harjit Dhir, Inderjit Singh, and Amanjeet Kaur; and many nieces and nephews, to whom he remained close. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ranbir Singh, Ravinder Singh, and his son-in-law Octavio Montalvo Jr.

 

To all who knew Amarjeet, knew he was a kindhearted, loving man who treated everyone with respect and decency. He loved his family dearly and cherished his friends. He was a godly man that never bore harm towards anyone. All would say Amarjeet made people laugh, smile and feel at ease. He wasn’t a judgmental man. He accepted everyone as they are, without any pretense. He was truly loved by so many and will never be forgotten.

 

The prayer service will be held on Wednesday, March 13th from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49009.
