Alberta G. (Baas) Skinner

Alberta G. Skinner passed away on November 1, 2022, at the age of 82. Alberta was born on September 2, 1940, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the youngest child of Gerard and Bertha (Mayaard) Baas. She was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1958. Her first job was as a bank teller. She then performed the superhuman feat of raising a daughter who was followed just a year later by twin sons. Alberta was employed for many years by Bunting Bearings Corp until her retirement in 2005. She then worked as a product demonstrator at Sam’s Club and a driver at Seelye Ford. Alberta is survived by her children: Rhonda (Allen) Breon, Richard Skinner, and Michael Skinner; her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her brother Donald (Janet) Baas; her sister-in-law Phyllis Baas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jayne Carpenter, and her brother Gerald Baas.  A Celebration of Life is being planned.
