Ned Ray Abbe

Ned Abbe, 94, passed away peacefully, at home, Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born March 13, 1923 to the late Fred and Lethal (Tice) Abbe. Ned was united in marriage to the former Mary Jayne Robinson on June 5, 1949. She preceded him in death in November of 2011.

Ned was a WWII veteran working in communications between 1st and 3rd Army's. After the War he was stationed in Austria, and subsequently to CID in New York City. He owned a small business with Jayne until both retired. Ned had a passion for music and dancing. With his beloved Jayne, he would spend many Saturday nights ballroom dancing or listening to music at home. He continued his musical interest until his death. Ned was also an avid gardener. In the spring and summer, he would rise early to tend to his daylilies, iris, and peonies. He was planning this year's garden during his final weeks. Ned's sport was fishing, he could spend hours enjoying the calm waters and sun while waiting to wrangle the big one.

Ned is survived by his daughter, Cheryl "Cheri" Abbe. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, March 7th 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Part South on S. Westnedge in Kalamazoo MI. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials may be directed to Kairos Dwelling at 2965 Gull Road, Kalamazoo MI 49048.
