Died Tuesday evening March 27, 2018. Lavern was born May 29, 1936 in Nahma Township, Michigan a son of Felix and Meta (Kranzusch) Cayemberg. Babe was proud of his roots and supported his home town of Nahma. In the winter, as a boy and young man, he would help cut ice from the waters of Big Bay De Noc, Lake Michigan. He played basketball at Nahma High School, graduating in 1954. Babe was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and shareholder. His passions included his grandchildren, immediate and extended family, as well as watching sports, cribbage, fishing, and occasionally visiting casinos. He loved fresh U.P. pasties and a good cup of hot coffee. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Titus Construction Company for over 40 years before retiring. He was also a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and rarely missed Mass on Sunday. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Christopher and Michael; 3 sisters, Fern, Marie, and Caroline; and 3 brothers, Robert, Edward, and Elmer. He is survived by 3 children, Keith Cayemberg of Hanover, Germany, and Brian Cayemberg and Craig (Wendy) Cayemberg all of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Samantha Cayemberg; 2 brothers, Earl Cayemberg of Green Bay, WI and Raymond (Nancy) Cayemberg of Duluth, MN; a sister, Lois (Paul) Bertrand of Menominee, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
