Julie Leah Filler

September 15, 1957 — October 5, 2017

Julie passed away October 5, 2017, after a long battle with chronic illness. Her courage, endurance, good humor and faith while managing her illness were an inspiration to all around her. Born September 15, 1957 in Pueblo, CO to Carl and Eva Filler/Dwyer. She has two brothers and two sisters; Louanna Haecker, Carl Edward Filler, Jerry Filler and Francine Quick. After living 10 years in Denver, CO, Julie moved to Kalamazoo, MI to pursue a nursing degree. Upon graduation from the RN program at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, she found employment with The Sister's of St. Joseph and was employed there for many years. Julie had many passions in her life with traveling and camping topping the list. Her love of nature and water took her to many places around the world to see God's beauty. She loved to share these moments with her longtime friend and companion Sean Wierenga. Julie loved the laughter and love of children and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews while watching them grow into adulthood. Andrea, Jacob, Garrett, Jessica, Danielle, Trevor and Mitchell all gave her tremendous pride. Julie will always be remembered as having a dedication to faith in God and the Denver Broncos. She loved life and took part in it to the best of her ability. Gardening and birds gave her an inner peace and she looked forward to Spring every year. She loved to think "life is like a fine wine, it gets better every year". A service to celebrate Julie's life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mayo Clinic.
