Jeanette died with dignity and grace on September 26, 2017, at the age of 93. She will be spending her first birthday in Heaven on October 6. She loved her Lord and Savior. She was very active in her church, church committees and the Christian School. She was the daughter of Cody and Rena De Vries, both deceased. On June 19, 1944, Jeanette married Robert "Bob" Durian who survives. Their bond of love spanned 73 years. Jeanette had three children, David & Kathy Durian, Ken (deceased) & Diane Durian and Barb & Marc Russell. Jeanette loved her family, especially her precious grandchildren, Chad & Sheri Russell, Vicky & Al Wirgau, Bob & Karla Durian, Steve & Tammi Durian, Kristy & Jeff Muller and Susan & Kirk Metzger. She also was very proud of her 13 great grandchildren, with one on the way. Also surviving are Jeanette's sisters, Carol Visser and Joyce Alphenaar. There was nothing she loved more then to have her family around her. She was preceded in death by her son, Ken Durian, brother, Clarence De Vries and sister, Ruth Van Dalen. Jeanette drove a school bus for the Kalamazoo Christian Schools for 20 years and then retired from the Upjohn Co. She volunteered many years at Second Impressions after retirement to aid the Kalamazoo Christian School tuition program. Christian education was very important to her. Jeanette was in the first graduating class of Kalamazoo Christian High School. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28th from 6-8PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Services will be held 11:00 Friday morning at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Road, with Pastor Greg Timmer officiating. Private burial services will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
