Ervin passed away in Battle Creek, MI on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born on July 6, 1936 in East Leroy, MI the son of Glenn and Merlah (Spooner) Green and had been a lifelong area resident.
After graduating from Athens High School in 1955, Ervin took up the family business and became a full-time farmer with his father. Ervin was lifelong farmer and a John Deere man, nothing else measured up. He even made sure the John Deere passion carried into the décor of their home. He also loved to tinker in the barn when the farm chores were done.
On August 12, 1961 he was happily married to Kathleen Perry and they began their new lives on the family farm in East Leroy. Before long they welcomed the births of their four children, Marianne, Brenda, Gail and Chuck. They spent many memorable times together camping, fishing and traveling. One of their favorite destinations was Lake Havasu, Arizona so much so that they bought a vacation home there in 1980. The family continued to vacation there right up through the winter of 2017.
Ervin's two great joys were fishing and his family. He never missed an opportunity to cast a line or show off his latest catch. When it came to his family there were more gatherings and picnics than can even be counted. Family came first!
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joey Kline. Also surviving are four children, Marianne (Michael) Heikkila, Brenda Strole, Gail (Michael) Long all of Battle Creek and Charles (Jaima) Green of East Leroy; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda VanMiddlesworth and Wanita Cobb; and several nieces and nephews. Ervin's family will receive friends at 10AM and services will begin at 11AM on Thursday, August 2nd at the Wakeshma Community Church, 16732 East UV Avenue. Pastor David Mackaluso will officiate. A reception will follow the memorial service. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
