Passed away Sunday April 3, 2011 in Saginaw, MI. Dorothy was born October 18, 1919 in Allegan, the daughter of Ray and Lillian Stone Lyon and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Reformed Church and spent over 12 years working in the cafeteria at Kalamazoo Central High School. Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On January 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to her loving husband Richard Dekema, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by 2 daughter in-laws, Sandy and Nancy Dekema; and 3 brothers, Donald, Dale, and Richard Lyon. Surviving are her 3 children, Carole Michael Kiefer, Robert Holly Dekema, Brian Dekema; 4 grandchildren, Amy Michael Metz, Joseph Sara Kiefer, Aaron Dekema, Russell Dekema; 4 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Susanna Metz, Elizabeth Kiefer, Sandy Dekema; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o?clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Rev. Don DeYoung officiating. Interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the chapel.
