Wayne Anthony Mitchell, age 81, passed away on January 6, 2019. He was born on January 2, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Max and Eleanor (Weberg) Mitchell and was a lifelong area resident. Wayne graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and loved to draw whenever he had time. He went on to work in manufacturing and retired from Graphic Packaging in 2002. He was a member of Oshtemo United Methodist Church for the last 40 years, volunteering at the monthly dinners along with many other events. Wayne was an avid cribbage player, a member of the American Cribbage Association, and once in his whole career of playing cribbage had been dealt the perfect hand! He served as a Unit Commissioner in the Boy Scouts of America, and was previously a Scoutmaster and Pack Leader. Wayne enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was younger, and participated in both a bowling and golf league for most of his adult life. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Mitchell, and two brothers. Surviving are a son, Kurt (Chrissy) Mitchell of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Lucas and Aurelia "Ari" Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8PM on Thursday, January 10th at Oshtemo United Methodist Church, 6574 Stadium Drive, where a memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, January 11th. Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Friday in Mount Everest Memorial Park, South.
