At Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, we remain committed to the health and safety of the families we serve, our employees, and our community. We want to assure you that we continue to take proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. We are actively following the guidelines outlined by the State of Michigan, the National Funeral Directors Association, and the CDC. At this time our service offerings are modified as explained below:
For the safety of the families we serve, our staff and our communities, we are implementing the following starting Monday, March 23, 2020:
Only our Memorial Chapel on Burdick Street and Westside Chapel on 9th Street is open at this time, all other chapel locations will be closed until further notice.
Funeral Arrangements may take place in person with a limit of 3 people in attendance for those arrangements, masks are recommended.
Private Funerals may be conducted at this time only at our Memorial Chapel on Burdick Street or Westside Chapel on 9th Street, for immediate family attendees, limited to 10 people in the gathering at a time. We recommend for safety that all persons entering our building wear a face mask. Services may also be conducted outdoors. Food and beverages will not be available during services until further notice.
Loved ones can be buried or cremated, as we comply with all state and local requirements.
Memorial services, memorial celebrations, and memorial gatherings may be scheduled a later date.
Graveside services are still permitted within cemetery restrictions.
Loved ones can still be prepared for services safely.
Visitors and family members of the deceased are asked to keep a distance of 6 feet apart, avoid handshakes/hugs, and give only non-contact sympathy and condolences to limit the spread of illness.
Our facilities are cleaned after every family visit and throughout the day. This includes disinfecting all surfaces including doorknobs, light switches, handrails, countertops, computers/tablets and phones with antibacterial/antiviral cleaning agents in accordance with mandated guidelines. Hand sanitizer and tissues are located throughout the facility.
All staff is required to wash their hands upon entering/exiting the office, prior to meeting with any of our families, and after meeting with any of our families. Langeland staff will not report to work if they show any signs of illness.
We kindly ask families who have cared for a loved one showing signs of illness, individuals who are themselves showing signs of illness, or those individuals who are at higher risk of contracting illness, to not come into the facility - rather call the office at 269-343-1508. We will discuss how we can best serve your needs and answer any questions you may have.
Sincerely, The Langeland Family
