Covid-19 Information

At Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, we remain committed to the health and safety of the families we serve, our employees, and our community. We want to assure you that we continue to take proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. We are monitoring the situation closely by following local, state and national guidelines. We want to reassure you that we’ll continue to maintain our high health standards. We are committed to serving all families and we have asked any employee running a fever or having flu-like symptoms to stay home. With such a time of uncertainty in the world caused by the spread of COVID-19, we also want to let you know what your options are. Our Langeland family will always stress the importance of honoring your loved ones. We want to help you do so in a way that does not risk the health and well-being of your friends and family.

Know your options for funeral services:

  • Funeral services are considered an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will remain open to take care of your family and offer support.
  • Decedents can be buried or cremated as we comply with all state and local requirements.
  • You can still have an intimate and unique gathering that honors your loved one.
  • Based on CDC guidelines we recommend guests follow social distancing techniques and encourage non-contact gestures of sympathy to uphold safety.
  • We can offer care through our Chapel Locations of Burdick Chapel, Westside Chapel on 9th Street, Portage Chapel on Centre Street and Climax Chapel.
  • You can utilize our funeral home for gatherings; however, we follow the limitations of the current mandate regarding guest attendance. Allotted guest attendance is determined by the square-foot space in each of our locations. Call to speak to a director about the capacity in our chapels, visitation rooms and reception halls.
  • A Funeral may be streamed from your phone or personal device, with the family’s permission.

Ways you can support your family and friends who have lost a loved one:

  • Write a condolence for the family on the 'Tribute Wall' of a loved one's obituary on our website.
  • Join the live stream and light a candle at home, if the family has chosen this option.
  • More than ever, sign the guestbook online and share memories.
  • Mail a card or letter, sharing great memories with the family.
  • Send a memorial donation in honor of the loved one.
  • Give them a call, FaceTime or video chat.

Know how to stay safe and healthy:

  • Hold off on handshakes and hugs, but show your condolences and care in other ways.
  • Utilize provided hand sanitizing stations frequently at times such as signing the guest book, entering and leaving our funeral home.
  • We are taking precautions outlined by the CDC and NFDA to keep your family safe during any planning or funeral service held at our facilities. Please adhere to hygiene and social distancing guidelines to help us in these efforts.
