JAMES, Winford
of Mattawan, Michigan Win, age 76, passed away Wednesday morning, October 8, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 3, 1938 in Portageville, Missouri, the son of the late Harvey W. and Ella Rachael Barnes James. On February 27, 1959, Win was united in marriage to the former Joyce E. Boven. He was employed by General Motors for 34 years until his retirement. Win was an active member of the United Auto Workers Local 488 and attended Calvary Reformed Church. Win and Joyce enjoyed golfing, traveling, boating and spending time in South Haven. But most of all, he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Joyce James; their 3 daughters, Julie Homan John, Peggy Pulaski Steve and Darcy James fiancé Patrick Kropp; 5 grandchildren, Deborah Tucker Jim, Andrew and Brian Homan, Chase and Zachary Pulaski; 2 sisters, Ida Risner Walton and Vivian DeJager Trimpe Bastian; 1 brother, Norman James Maria; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Shannon Homan; great-grandson, Michael Tucker; and 2 sisters, Olliebee and infant Victory James. A funeral service to celebrate Win's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 13, at Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 5th Street, Mattawan, with Pastor Greg VanHeukelum, officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3-6 PM on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Reformed Church or Ministry with Community.
