Kalamazoo On Thursday, August 1, 2013, Wilma Meinema went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born May 28, 1912 in Rozenburg, the Netherlands, a daughter of the late Bruin and Jaapje Kleiwegt Noordam and came to the United States in 1956 with 7 of their children. She was a long time member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and loved her flowers. On December 5, 1930, she married Art Meinema, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1992. She was also preceded by a son, Abe Meinema, son-in-law, Ben deBruin, three sisters, Bertha Poot, Gertrude Den Harder and Maria Vander Eyk; and two brothers, Arent Noordam and Abraham Noordam. Wilma is survived by her children, Rika Hank Mulder of St. Catharines, Ontario, Bruin Corrie Meinema of Hellevoetsluis, The Netherlands, Jacoba deBruin, of Naaldwijk, The Netherlands, Bert Minnie Meinema of Kalamazoo, Louie Alice Meinema of Kalamazoo, Peter Glenda Meinema of Jacksonville, FL, Art Marilyn Meinema of Kalamazoo, Arend Joanne Meinema of Kalamazoo, Anne Barb Meinema of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Betty Meinema of Donaldsonville, GA; 26 living grandchildren; 64 living great grandchildren; 7 living great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Road, with Pastor Gregory Timmer, officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery, South. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., on Monday from 6- 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or the Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
