William Buckey

BUCKEY, William ?Bill? Of Galesburg Bill passed away Friday August 24, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice with his family at his side. Bill was born December 20, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Austin and Evelyn Williams Buckey. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the VFW Post #827. Bill was employed with Con Rail for over 39 years prior to his retirement. He attended the Bethany Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. On June 16, 1956 in Angola, IN, he was united in marriage to the former Edith M. Webb who survives and lovingly cared for him at home during his illness the last seven years. Also surviving are his children, Ronald Buckey, William Buckey, Sherry George Moeslein and Deb Mann; grandchildren, Scott, Angela, Mishell, Garrie Jr., Christine. Kyle and William; great-grandchildren, Amberlee, Brenden, Garrie III, Gabriel due in Sept. and one more due in March; brothers and sisters, Roy Florence Taylor, Larry Janice Taylor, Evelyn Williams, Jane Sagers, Jean Chuck Ulmer, Vera Haws and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tom Smith; a sister, Vivian Wentworth and by 2 brothers, Alton and Jim Taylor. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. Following visitation there will be a Graveside Service with full military honors at 12:00 noon Wednesday in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials in Bill?s memory may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
