Portage Passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Wendy was born January 22, 1968 in Livonia, MI, a daughter of Richard and Susan Leppanen Wagner and had lived in the Portage area for many years. She was a 6th grade science teacher in the Milwood Magnet Middle School for 6 years. Wendy often remarked how lucky she was to have such loving and caring family and friends. She also loved gardening, flowers, and bowling, but she especially loved her kids and the staff at the Milwood Middle School. On May 19, 2001, she married Shawn Hotrum, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Susan Wagner of Westland; step-daughter, Candice Dave Hinshaw; step-sons, Phillip Hotrum and Curtis Hotrum; grandchildren, P.J., Kaitlyn and Jasmine; a sister, Sue Jim Annis of Richland; a brother Keith Jan Wagner of South Lyon; and her mother-in-law, Kathy Hotrum of Battle Creek; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Bill Wagner; her brother, Ronald Wagner; and her father-in-law, Charles Hotrum. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Pastor John Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
