THOMPSON, Walter Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 2006 at Appledorn Care Facility in Holland. Walter was born October 2, 1914 in Walkerton, IN, the son of the late Robert and Lucille Koch Thompson and had been a resident of the Kalamazoo and the St. Joseph areas. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was employed by Producers Creamery for 23 years and later worked for Berrien Teacher Credit Union for over 7 years as assistant manager until his retirement. Walter was a member of North Park Reformed Church. On February 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Nellie Koning in Kalamazoo, who preceded him in death on September 13, 2006. Also preceding him in death are his parents; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. Surviving are his children, Janice William Van Auken of Holland, Betsy James Farrell of Three Oaks, and Nancy Thompson Michael Jay of Camarillo, CA; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mr. Thompson will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Faith Chapel, 7736 W. G Avenue, Pastor Tom Koning officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest North. Memorial contributions may be directed to North Park Reformed Church.
