LANG, Virginia
of Portage, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012. She was born July 7, 1938 in Mishawaka, IN the daughter of Leo and Vivian Durst Singleton and was a resident of Portage for many years. Virginia was known as "Nanny" and was loved by everyone who knew her. On July 28, 1957, she married Elmer Lang, who survives. Also surviving is their daughter, Pamela Gary Gilchrist of Portage; grandchildren, Anastasia Michael Rennie and Jordan Gilchrist, all of Portage; great granddaughters, Makenzie and Alexa Rennie; two sisters, Judy Swope and Geraldine Cole; three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Daniel Singleton; several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Winnie Blake. While she had only one biological child, she was a loving mother to many. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with Pastor Marty Culver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning beginning at 9:30 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Red Cross.
