Portage, Michigan Died Tuesday afternoon March 23, 2010 at her residence. Jean was born March 5, 1922 in Coldwater, Michigan a daughter of Chester and Arnauld Kimmell Rathbun. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Portage Public Schools for 15 years before retiring. Jean always put her family first and loved her kids at school. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin B. Zylman; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by 6 children, Michael Linda Dorgan of Portage, William Denise Dorgan of Allegan, Rebecca Paul Roberts of Mattawan, Benjamin A. Zylman of Kalamazoo, Debra Jeff Price of Vicksburg, and Sue Ellen Zylman of Kalamazoo; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Cekander of Athens, MI; 3 brothers, Buster Mary Rathbun, Lee Deb Rathbun, and Clyde Rathbun all of Coldwater, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 10 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday. Graveside services will be 2:30 Friday in Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Borgess Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
