of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Age 79. Stanley was born in Kalamazoo on March 4, 1935, the son of the late Henry and Nellie Thomas Boven. He was employed by the James River Company, retiring after 42 ½ years of service. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and traveling. He was married to Naomi Ellis Boven on July 8, 1976; she preceded him in death on March 5, 2009. He is survived by his children, Christina Lyn Griffith of Kalamazoo, Catherine Marie Thomas of Portage, Sharon Aaron Kotrba of Kalamazoo and Kathy Walker of Kalamazoo; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Boven. Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where the memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Dave Johnson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
