Of Portage Went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Sarah was born April 7, 1918, in Decatur, Michigan, the daughter of William and Elizabeth DeWolff Slager. She was a long time resident of Portage and member of the First Reformed Church of Portage. Sarah enjoyed working in her garden, crocheting, trailer camping, traveling, but most of all spending time with her family. On November 24, 1937 she was united in marriage to George Terpstra who preceded her in death on February 17, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Garry Slager and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Terpstra. Surviving are her children, Linda Ray Vlietstra of Portage, Larry Terpstra of Schoolcraft and Doug Jan Terpstra of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Kevin Kim Vlietstra, Brian Sarah Vlietstra, Rhonda Brian Gregory, Cheryl Andrew Yonkers, Erin Greg Callis, Shelby Terpstra, Jason Terpstra and Jordan Terpstra; 9 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Winnie Terpstra, Martha Byholt, Jeanette Ward Goff and Frances Jim Goole; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11am. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Wednesday at the First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave. with Pastors Mike Drew and Ed Martin officiating. A private family interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Sarah?s memory may be directed to the First Reformed Church of Portage; Crystal Woods ?
