RYSKAMP, Ruth ?Tootie? Portage Mrs. Ryskamp passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born January 22, 1927 in Kalamazoo, one of six children to James and Martha Miller Swander. Tootie graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1945. She was employed by NL Industries for over 15 years, until her retirement in the mid 1980?s. In 1948, she was united in marriage to the late Robert F. Ryskamp. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed travel and volunteered at the Portage Seniors Center for many years. Tootie was a member of the Portage Moose Lodge 88, and often spent time at the VFW Red Arrow Post 1527, where she enjoyed playing darts. Tootie also enjoyed spending time at her lake house in LeRoy. She was a very sweet and well loved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding her in death are husband, Robert; and three brothers, Jim, Bud, and Bob Swander. Surviving are her three sons, Bob Kerry Ryskamp of Woodbridge, VA, Dan Tammy Ryskamp of Portage, and Ted Sue Ryskamp of Grand Ledge; five grandchildren, Ryan, Ross, Nick Lynne, Alice, and Kelsy Ryskamp; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Ryskamp; two sisters, Joann Snyder of Delton and Jackie Perse of Portage; three sisters-in-law, Barb, Janet, and Ann Swander; two brothers-in-law, Pete and Abe Ila Ryskamp; close friends, Holly and Dickson Matthews; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Tootie will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with Rev. John W. Fisher officiating. Friends may visit the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday today and 2-4 PM on Friday tomorrow at the funeral home. As expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Foundation.
