Kalamazoo Ruth Marilyn Bjorkman-Ludwig passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at home. Ruth was born in Highland Park, Illinois on August 13, 1929. Daughter of Alex and Alma Bjorkman. In 1951 she married Marvin J. Ludwig. Children are Marhsall J. Ludwig deceased, Robin Lovely and Rhonda Ludwig. Ruth graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1952 majoring in Music. Ruth served as Marvin's Administrative Assistant throughout their years of marriage. Her work included The YMCA of Marion Ohio and the YMCA of Ethiopia. She organized The International Choral Society of Ethiopia. Her love of music has inspired many. She sang at special events for His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie of Ethiopia and many other state dignitaries throughout the world including two US Presidents. She sang in several church choirs throughout her life. She was active at The Defiance College where Marvin served as President for 19 years as a Hostess for varied Social events and worked on many Fundraising committees. She was most proud of her work in developing the Food Service Program under the name of Mena Mahiber for the people of Ethiopia. She moved to Kalamazoo Michigan in 2002 to be with family John and Robin Lovely and grandsons, J.J. and Brendon Lovely. Surviving are John and Robin Lovely, grandsons J.J. and Brendon Lovely, Kathy Ludwig Marshall's wife, grandsons Ryan and Shawn Ludwig and Rhonda Ludwig. Ruth was a passionate, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church located at 321 W. South St. Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time.
