CAMPBELL-SHEPPERD, Ruth
Of Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008. Ruth was born August 27, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Clara Peterson Hermanson and has been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1944. For over 20 years she worked as a social worker for Family & Children Services. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and past member of Zonta International. Ruth volunteered for several organizations including Hospice of Southwest Michigan, West Michigan Cancer Center and the South Haven American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Campbell in 1983 and William Shepperd in 1985. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister. Surviving are her son, William J. Joan Campbell III of Kalamazoo; her grandson, William J. Desiree Campbell IV of Kalamazoo; a great grandson, Gavin Xavier Campbell; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jan Walton. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 23 at St. Monica Catholic Church. Following mass friends are invited to join the family in the church hall for a luncheon. A private burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
