Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday morning April 30, 2011. Rosemary was born October 28, 1928 in Comstock, Michigan a daughter of Bert and Helena Cook Merchant. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Allen Test Products for over 25 years, before retiring. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and watching the birds and squirrels at her backyard feeder. Rosemary loved spending time with her family and having tea with the neighbor ladies. In her younger years, she also looked forward to special nights out with friends for dinner and dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arnold; 3 sisters, Ruth, Nellie, and Lettie; and a grandson, James. Rosemary is survived by 4 children, Bobby Dean of Portage, Jo Dean of Kalamazoo, Debbie Lawson of Paw Paw, and Cheryl Steve Smalley of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Fitch of Fort Smith, AR; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
