of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Bronson Methodist Hospital at the age of 79. Richard Dick was born on June 3, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late William R. and Eleanor L. Stopp Jones. He graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1953. Then served eight years with the United States Army from 1954-1962. Shortly afterwards he completed an associates degree from Parsons Business school and began his career at Kalamazoo Container Co. He then transitioned to ARVCO Container Corporation where he retired after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and enjoyed golfing and fishing and was an avid fan of the University of Arizona's girls' softball team. He also deeply enjoyed being a part of many activities with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Richard M.Connie Jones of Kalamazoo and John W. Nancy Jones of Troutdale, OR; three grandchildren, Kathryn Jones of Kalamazoo, Daniel Jones of Kalamazoo and Ricky Sara Eugene Stevens of Watervliet, one sister, Carol Humphrey Lonnie of Nashville, TN; two nieces, Kim and Kathy; and nephew Bruce and many other nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Don Jones of Eureka, CA. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday August 10, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes at the Comstock Chapel located at 6121 King Highway, Comstock, MI 49048. Richard's grandson, Ricky Eugene Stevens, will officiate and friends are welcome to visit with the family from 3 p.m. until time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
