Reginald Shave

SHAVE, Reginald Portage Passed away March 24, 2007 in Palm Desert, CA. He was born November 11, 1929 in Alberta, Canada the son of Ernest and Ardie Shave. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1954 where he met is wife, Nancy Welty Shave. They were married for over 54 years and residents of the Kalamazoo/Portage area for many years. Reg was a prominent business man in the area, starting his career in Grand Rapids and moving to Plainwell in 1967 then Kalamazoo in 1981. For over 40 years, he was a partner with Clarence Martz in Four Seasons Builders and Developers, retiring in 2006. They built many of the homes surrounding Lake Doster in Plainwell and went on to Kalamazoo/Portage developing Rudgate, Sprinkle Woods, Fox Valley, and other beautiful neighborhoods. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Country Club, the Kalamazoo Board of Realtors and was an avid sports enthusiast; #1 fan of his grandchildren?s sports. While a student at U of M, he played hockey for 3 years, where he received the honor of being named an All American Defenseman on the 1952 and 1953 Championship Teams and is in the Hockey Hall of Fame at Michigan. For the past 10 years, he enjoyed their winter home in Sun City, Palm Desert, CA. Reg is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Jim Ana Shave of Rochester Hills, Bob Theresa Shave of Portage and Jan Bob Woolworth Shave of Seattle, WA; 5 grandchildren, Danielle Shave, Lance and Karlee Shave, Lillian and Davis Woolworth; a brother, Jack Beryl Shave in Canada; a sister-in-law, Dede Shave. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 14, 2007 in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue with Rev. James Dyke officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, beginning at 12:00 Noon.
