and Portage, MI Passed away September 30, 2008 surrounded by his family. Ray was born July 6, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Barney and Helen Dubois Kalisewicz. He was married to Ruthe Jo Malindzak in 1950, in Wyandotte, MI for a loving 58 years, who survives him. Ray's family always came first but when time permitted he also enjoyed the beach, fishing and a good game of golf. He was a member of the American legion for close to 55 years. He also was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for many years. Also surviving Ray are his son, Jess Kathy Kalis; grandchildren, Jessica Dawson, Emily Kalis, Ashlee Kalis, Nicole Hurtekant and Laura Adkins; great grandchildren, Isabelle Dawson and Elijah Hurtekant; sisters, Josephine Martin and Delores Pfaffman. Also preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister. At the request of Ray to his family, no services or visitation will be scheduled. Arrangements are by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., Portage. Memorial contributions may be directed, in Ray's name, to any hospice organization of one's choice. Condolences for the family may be left at www.langelands.com .
